Not Another Holiday

This is the bit I have trouble with.  Waiting. Waiting.  Have I forgotten ... No/Yes/Whatever.  Should I do A, B or C or leave them till we return?  Being on holiday I like, it's almost as good as being at home.  Preparing to go is a mixture of tedium because the rest of your life goes on hold and worry about the minutiae of getting there.

But, to begin at the beginning, it was a cold, grey and wet day in December.  "Why don't we go away for a few days?  A warm winter break.  Maybe the Cote d'Azure: not very hot but warmer and drier than our little valley, bright and sunny", I said, "We could take the TGV from London to Nice".

All went well as we searched the delights of southern Europe (as soon as you say France, Google suggests Seville or Napoli).  Then work out a train schedule.   What with changing trains etc it'll take about 24 hours.  "Nearly as long as a flight to New Zealand", one of us said.   So we went down to Trail Finders and booked a round the world ticket via the land of kiwis.  To make the journey slightly more manageable we'll stop off for a couple of days in Singapore on the way out and a week in Vancouver on the return.

Tomorrow we leave.  I'll try and keep this blog going.  I did one on our last trip to NZ but in those days USB sockets hadn't really made it to Tolkein's Island (nor had Tolkein) and blogging wasn't easy.  Young people won't believe this but pictures went on one site and the blog on another.  It worked but your pictures ended up with captions inviting you to buy sexy underwear, get a new car,  order a Philippine wife, or, worst of all, take a holiday somewhere far from where you actually are.   Fortunately things have changed, unfortunately our previous blog consists mostly of words and broken links.  If interested it's here
